Right, so first of all, my poem Stardust was just published in the 2017 Mizmor L’David Anthology by Poetica Publishing. You can read or download the full anthology as a PDF on the Poetica website here; Stardust appears on page 51. An excerpt:
i don’t have to be the brightest thread in the carpet
or the sweetest seed in the pomegranate.sometimes it is enough
to simply be part of something,
something magnificent, all-encompassing,
something far greater
than i alone
could ever be
Secondly, in case you missed it, my amusing op-ed “Spanish politics stole my mail” was published and featured in the Times of Israel top ops… was it last week? I described it thus on social media: “A harrowing tale of political grudges, dashed hopes, and furtive revenge.” Born out of a rather infuriating two-month-long saga of ridiculousness, it was deliciously satisfying to write. (And it has lots of illustrative pictures!)
Thirdly: my short story, Scarf Sisters, was published last year in arc-25, the literary journal of the Israel Association of Writers in English, under the theme A Calm in the Storm. It’s not available online at the moment, but next week there will be a launch reading event in Jerusalem, and I plan to participate. If you happen to be in Jerusalem next Monday, the 15th of January, drop on by; the reading will take place at Hamiffal, 3 Hama’aravim St., right by Independence Park in the center of town. Not just to hear me, either; I confess that it is rare for me to read entire issues of literary magazines even when my own pieces have been published in them, but I gobbled this one up cover to cover. It’s a truly remarkable collection with many intriguing and deeply moving pieces by extremely talented writers. You can RSVP to the Facebook event here. I’d love to see you there! (And if you can’t make it, on account of some lame excuse such as the Atlantic Ocean–I’m hoping to get a decent video of my reading which I can post on my YouTube channel. I’ll keep you posted!)
