I teach a type of self-defense called “empowerment self-defense” (ESD). Empowerment self-defense is a method that addresses the psychological, emotional, and cognitive aspects of self-defense and violence prevention as well as the physical aspects.
I am a black belt in Shorin-Ryu Matsubayashi karate, though I no longer practice. I am certified by the Ministry of Sport and have more than ten years’ experience teaching various forms of ESD, including El HaLev’s “The Freedom to Choose” program and IMPACT Self-Defense. I was also involved in the development of El HaLev’s safety program for children and parents.
This is me executing a knee strike on a fellow IMPACT instructor. (Don’t worry, he’s well protected!)
