Hello there. I hope this finds you healthy and safe, wherever in the world you may be. Here in Israel we are more or less in lockdown, with all schools, non-essential businesses, and borders closed, and citizens ordered to stay at home. I have the enormous fortune of being able to work from home for companies that are stable and functioning, and though this period has some serious challenges and I am particularly concerned for my immunocompromised husband, we are counting our many blessings and enjoying our time together as a family as much as we can.
Disengagement Virtual Launch Party
So, obviously, that in-person launch party that I was too lazy to start planning will have to wait… but what better time to have a virtual launch party than now?
To join, just mark yourself as “interested” or “going” on Kasva’s Facebook event. Over the coming week, we will be posting selected excerpts from the book along with questions for reflection and discussion, and you are enthusiastically invited to join in and share your thoughts and opinions. You don’t need to have read the book to participate!
On Sunday, March 29, at 8pm Israel time (1pm EST), I’ll be broadcasting live directly to the event page to sum up the discussion, read some excerpts, and answer any questions you may have for me.
Join the event now so you don’t miss anything! And feel free to invite anyone you think may be interested. Let’s be real, it’s not like they have anything better to do. 😛
Amazon woes
In other news, there has been much hair-pulling and gnashing of teeth over Amazon’s mysterious stocking issue. As of yesterday, the USA site is indicating that they will have a stock on April 3rd, and the European sites claim to already have copies in stock: of the ones I checked, the UK, Spain, and Italy have 3 copies available while France and Germany have 1.
However, Amazon notified our distributor that until April 7th at least, they will no longer be ordering new stocks of books because they are now restocking only on “essential items.” My publishers and I completely fail to understand why they believe books do not fall under this category, but alas.
If you’re in the US, I recommend ordering directly from Kasva Press. From anywhere else in the world, I recommend Book Depository — they have good prices and free worldwide shipping.
If you’ve already read it
Once you do receive and read your copy: you know the drill. Please, please, please leave a review. On Amazon, Goodreads, or ideally both. This is always super important, but take a look — both review pages are completely desolate. (Except for one lovely review from Steve. Thank you, Steve!) And if you never got around to leaving that review for Letters to Josep or By Light of Hidden Candles — no time like the present!
Hope to “see” you soon at the virtual launch party! In the meantime, stay safe, stay healthy, take care of yourselves, and have a peaceful Shabbat.
